Our #Rights, Our #Future, Right #Now!

#Rights are the #Future of AIDS Action Europe

Today, on World Human Rights Day, we reaffirm this year's slogan "Our Rights, Our Future, Now!", which calls for the full and immediate promotion, protection and fulfilment of human rights for all, without further delay.

Social stigma, discrimination, gender inequality and human rights violations are major obstacles that delay progress towards achieving the HIV targets.

These barriers further increase vulnerabilities, leaving behind people living with HIV, other key populations and affected communities.

Human rights and gender equality are the foundations of the Global AIDS Strategy, which recognizes that achieving the HIV targets requires addressing inequalities and protecting the human rights of people living with HIV and other vulnerable population groups.

The Strategy sets out 10-10-10 social targets to be achieved by 2025, with Result Area 5 explicitly highlighting a commitment to human rights: "People living with HIV, vulnerable population groups and those at risk of HIV must enjoy human rights, equality and dignity, free from stigma and discrimination."

We call on all governments of the world, especially in Europe and Central Asia, to immediately implement their commitments to promote and protect human rights for all, contributing to progress towards the elimination of AIDS by 2030.

Our Rights are our Future, Right Now, Right Now!
